Link Whisper saves me time finding internal linking opportunities on Flex For Families, where I have over 400 posts. I use the paid version to review incoming and outgoing links before publishing and check reports weekly. It earns its place in my workflow, although I still assess suggestions for relevance before adding them.
Keeping track of related articles gets harder as a blog grows. You publish a new guide, then remember an older post that could have linked to it. Or you discover a useful page that has barely any links pointing towards it.
I originally tried Link Whisper Free to help connect relevant posts and avoid leaving content orphaned. The AI features encouraged me to try the paid version. Since upgrading, I’ve found it a worthwhile investment in my business.
This review explains how I use it, where the suggestions need checking and what I would consider before paying. My experience comes from using it on FFF. Product and pricing details were checked on 4 November 2026.
What Is Link Whisper and Who Created It?
Link Whisper is a WordPress plugin that helps you find, review and manage internal links. An internal link takes a reader from one page on your website to another page on the same site.
For a specific article, outgoing internal links point to other pages on your site. Incoming internal links come from those other pages. Reviewing both helps you connect a new article to content you’ve already written.
Link Whisper was created by Spencer Haws and launched in 2019, according to its company history. Link Whisper’s background
Quick Note: I’m John Crossley, founder of Flex For Families. I review online business opportunities through the lens of family life, focusing on costs, time commitments, risks, and whether they genuinely help parents create more flexibility.
Why Did I Upgrade From Link Whisper Free?
The addition of AI features was the reason I wanted to try the paid version. I was already looking for ways to connect relevant articles and spot content that needed incoming links.
As FFF has grown, searching through my own list of posts has become harder. I can remember the main guides, but remembering every useful connection across hundreds of articles takes more effort.
The paid workflow has become part of publishing for me. I use the suggestions, review the context and decide which links belong. That combination has been valuable enough that I would pay for it again.
How Do I Use Link Whisper Before Publishing?
I review incoming and outgoing links while the post is still a draft. A typical review takes me around five minutes before publication.

That is my usual review time. Initial setup, scans and larger maintenance jobs sit outside that figure. It will also vary with the article and the suggestions available.
Here is the process I follow in practical terms.
- Review opportunities to link from the draft to relevant existing articles.
- Read each suggested connection in context.
- Check the destination and whether the anchor text makes sense.
- Review opportunities for existing posts to link into the new article.
- Add the relevant links and check the edited content before publishing.
The incoming side matters because a new post can otherwise have several outgoing links while older content gives readers little reason to discover it.
For example, a new guide about affiliate disclosures could link to an existing affiliate writing guide. The older writing guide might also have a useful place to point readers towards disclosure advice. This is an illustrative example of the decision, rather than a recorded Link Whisper suggestion from my dashboard.
How Good Are Link Whisper’s Suggestions?
Their usefulness varies by post. Some articles produce strong suggestions. Others need more filtering, and I sometimes see connections that aren’t relevant enough to use.
I scan the suggestions instead of selecting every link. Link Whisper’s weak-suggestion labels help me notice where a connection needs closer attention, but I still read the surrounding sentence.
Three checks help me decide whether a link belongs.
- Would the reader benefit from opening the destination at this point?
- Does the anchor text describe what they will find?
- Does the sentence still read naturally after the link is added?
Two posts can mention the same tool while answering different questions. A link between them might help, but the shared product name alone doesn’t tell me that it belongs in a particular sentence.
This is the main limitation in my experience. Link Whisper speeds up finding opportunities. I still make the editorial decision.
How Useful Are the Orphaned Post and Broken Link Reports?
The reports are part of my weekly routine. I check for orphaned posts and link coverage, and I value being able to see broken links that need attention.
An orphaned-post flag gives me something specific to investigate. I look at whether there is a relevant article that could introduce readers to that page. I would also check what content the report scans before treating its count as a complete picture of every link on the site.
For a broken-link flag, opening the destination is a sensible next step before changing it. A page might have moved, been removed or temporarily failed to respond. The useful fix depends on what happened.
What I appreciate is the visibility. If I know a problem is there, I can deal with it during a maintenance session instead of waiting to stumble across it later.

What Do Link Whisper’s AI Features Add?
The AI tools made the paid version more appealing to me and are a reason I have continued using it. I find the plugin more useful as the number of posts on FFF increases.
The current setup documentation describes semantic analysis for link suggestions. It asks users to connect Link Whisper AI, enable AI-powered suggestions and review the proposed sentence, anchor and destination before inserting a link. It uses Link Whisper credits rather than a personal OpenAI API key. AI suggestion setup
That distinction matters when budgeting. AI work consumes credits, and the amount varies with the task and site content. The account’s AI Subscription screen shows usage and available top-up options. I haven’t supplied a measured credit total for my own site, so I wouldn’t use my five-minute review to estimate your AI bill. AI credit guidance
What Is the Difference Between Link Whisper Free and Paid?
Free is a way to explore suggestions and basic reporting. Premium adds a more direct workflow for inserting and managing links across existing content.
The current WordPress listing describes free suggestions that you copy into posts. It promotes bulk insertion, incoming-link management, auto-linking and fuller broken-link reporting as premium capabilities. The same listing describes orphan-page visibility in its free reporting text and also labels an orphan finder as premium. Check the installed free version before upgrading for that feature alone. Current WordPress plugin listing
| Your Task | Free Starting Point | Why Premium May Help |
|---|---|---|
| Find possible outgoing links | Explore suggested connections and add suitable links manually | Reduce the manual insertion work |
| Review older posts that could link to a page | Assess the reporting and options available in your installed version | Use the incoming-link workflow |
| Maintain links across a larger library | Start with the report coverage available to you | Access broader management tools and reports |
| Use AI repeatedly | Check account requirements and the available allowance | Budget for the licence and AI credits together |
I would assess the time-consuming task you actually have before buying. If you only need occasional suggestions and are happy adding links manually, try that workflow first.
How Much Does Link Whisper Cost?
The public pricing page listed the following annual packages when checked on 4 November 2026. Prices are in US dollars.
| Plan | Sites | Listed Annual Bill | Listed Included AI Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1 | $97 | 2,000 |
| Growth | 3 | $197 | 3,000 |
| Pro | 10 | $297 | 5,000 |
| Agency | 50 | $497 | 10,000 |
The page describes those credits as refreshing annually. Treat any displayed monthly equivalent as a way of expressing the annual cost, and confirm the billing cycle, renewal price, taxes and included credits on the purchase screen. Link Whisper pricing
There is a discrepancy worth checking before paying. A pre-purchase help page lists Starter at $119 a year. That page also describes a 14-day refund window for new purchases and excludes renewals. Confirm the terms attached to your order, including any exclusions for credits. Pre-purchase information
The licence and AI usage are distinct. Included credits give you an allowance, while further AI processing may require additional spending. Review the available options in your account instead of assuming that buying Premium provides unlimited AI use. Licence and AI plan explanation
Is Link Whisper Easy to Set Up and Use?
Setup was easy in my experience, and I find it straightforward to use. The publishing review and weekly checks have fitted into my normal blogging routine.
I haven’t supplied a timed installation benchmark or tested different hosting environments for this review. If you have complex page-builder content, check the current compatibility guidance and inspect an edited page in your own setup.
I also wouldn’t switch on broad automatic linking rules before understanding their effect. Review the scope, try a small change and check the result. A repeated phrase can appear in several contexts, and a link that works in one passage may be less useful in another.
Does Link Whisper Help Rankings?
I think it has helped my rankings, but I haven’t measured its isolated effect. FFF has also grown through new content and other work, so I can’t attribute a particular increase to this plugin.
The benefit I can describe directly is the workflow. It helps me find relevant connections, notice pages that need attention and maintain links across a growing library.
If you’re assessing the results on your own site, record what you changed and when. Watch relevant pages over time while accounting for other updates. A rise or fall immediately after editing links needs context before you draw a conclusion.
What Are the Pros and Cons?
For me, the strengths centre on finding opportunities and making maintenance easier to fit into a busy week.
| Pros From My Experience | Limits and Buying Considerations |
|---|---|
| A typical five-minute link review before publishing | That time excludes setup, scans and larger maintenance |
| Helps surface connections across over 400 posts | Suggestions still need a relevance check |
| Useful weekly visibility into orphaned posts and broken links | Reported issues need investigation |
| Easy setup and everyday use for me | My experience doesn’t establish compatibility or performance on every site |
| AI features made the upgrade worthwhile | AI allowances and additional usage need budgeting |
| Greater value as my content library grows | A smaller site may be manageable manually |
The main frustration I have reported is irrelevant suggestions. I haven’t provided a support ticket history, performance benchmark or refund experience, so those aren’t part of my verdict.
Who Should Pay for Link Whisper?
It is worth considering when finding and adding internal links is becoming a recurring drain on your time. A growing collection of related articles gives the plugin more opportunities to help.
It may suit you if you publish regularly, update older guides and want a report you will actually review. The value depends partly on maintaining that habit.
You can reasonably start manually if your site has a small number of articles you know well. Keep a list of your main guides, check relevant existing posts when publishing and revisit them as new content appears. You can try the free plugin alongside that process.

If you are still finding time to publish your first useful posts, compare the cost with your immediate needs. A plugin becomes easier to justify when you can name the repeated job it will help you complete.
About the Reviewer
Hi, I’m John Crossley, founder of Flex For Families.
I’m a parent, blogger, and online business owner who helps families find realistic ways to create more flexibility through blogging, affiliate marketing, and online business.
Like many people, I’ve spent years researching online opportunities, testing platforms, and learning how to separate genuine business models from expensive hype. I’ve also experienced the frustration of chasing opportunities that promised freedom but demanded more time away from family.
Today, I use that experience to review courses, side hustles, AI opportunities, and online business programmes through a simple lens:
Will this genuinely help parents create more flexibility, or will it create more pressure?
Every review on Flex For Families focuses on costs, time commitments, risks, and realistic expectations, so you can make informed decisions before investing your time or money.
Is Link Whisper Worth It for Busy Parent Bloggers?
For me, yes. I see the paid version as a worthwhile investment in FFF, and it has become more valuable as the site has grown. The AI features encouraged me to upgrade, while the publishing checks and weekly reports keep it useful.
I would base your decision on how much linking work you currently face. Try the free workflow if it meets your needs. Consider Premium when managing the connections across older and newer posts takes time you would rather put into improving the content.
Before paying, check the current annual total, included AI credits and renewal terms. Then plan to keep reviewing suggestions. Relevant links still depend on understanding what your reader needs next.
